As we age, our bodies tend to become stiffer and less flexible, resulting in a loss of the normal range of motion that we used to enjoy when we were young. We also lose some of the strength, agility, speed and grace we once had and begin to notice more aches and pains. You may notice gradual changes, creeping up slowly leaving you with less energy, more prone to injuries and taking longer to heal. Yoga can help delay and even reverse some of these changes and renew a sense of energy and vitality, bringing more efficiency to activities of daily living.
Yoga develops strength, flexibility, balance, focus and awareness.....................
Attending to the breath helps provide focus and relaxation. The breathing practice (pranayama) fosters the link between the mind and the body, providing a valuable tool for releasing tension and reducing stress. This helps develop mental clarity and concentration, bringing flexibility to our decision making. Yoga teaches us to quiet the mind by placing attention on the breath, and the movement or stillness of the body.
Through the practice of yoga we integrate every aspect of ourselves - Mind ~ Body ~ Spirit - and discover our connection to ourselves, to others, and to the universe.
Flexibility: As you free your body of its restrictions, so too does the mind become free from the restrictions that limit our potential in life.
